Worcester Chamber Music Network

Worcester Chamber Music Network has been set up by the Elgar School of Music and eager volunteers to help nurture and support the talented body of local amateur musicians in Worcester, old and young, experienced and less-experienced.

The ambition is to put in place a simple structure to enable the convening and connecting of musicians who wish to meet and play informally with musicians of a similar standard and experience, whether it be duos, trios, quartets or larger ensembles.

Would I qualify to join the network?

  • Any local musician with a standard of approximately Grade 5 and beyond.

  • If you are not already in an ensemble, but would like to play chamber music either on an occasional or regular basis, the network could help match you with other like-minded local musicians and then (if necessary) help facilitate the formation of a group.
The Elgar School would try to match players appropriately and sensitively.

  • If you are already playing in an existing ensemble, the Elgar School could offer a flexible rehearsal space and, if desirable, offer informal professional tuition on a paid basis.

The annual membership fee is £30.

What is provided by the Elgar School:

  • space to meet and play at no extra charge

  • administrative support to collate and manage a database of local musicians looking for musical partners and operate a booking system for rehearsal space

  • access to the database of local musicians by those who has formally signed up to the scheme

  • access to a selection of chamber music held in the Elgar School library

  • access to equipment such as music stands, pianos and keyboards and other instruments as available

  • optional access to occasional or regular chamber music tutors, coaches, critical friends etc. (for an additional fee)

  • occasional access to a performance space with opportunities to share your work with others in a relaxed and private concert environment

  • possible informal social activity to encourage sharing of musical experience and new connections

The Network is supported by an Advisory Committee of member musicians to meet occasionally to support the administration of the network and help guide and promote the development of the network. If you would like to join the Committee, please email ...
